The Sabbath, in Hebrew Shabbat (from Friday night to Saturday night), is an essential part of Jewish tradition explicitly mentioned in the Ten Commandments.
Through all centuries, the Sabbath held the Jews together and this sacred day represents the bond between God and people.
Shabbat is a day of rest when the Jewish Congregation gathers in the synagogue for a service in which a Hebrew liturgy is followed and the Hebrew Bible or Torah is read.<\/p>\n

Shabbat services<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Sabbath, in Hebrew Shabbat (from Friday evening to Saturday evening), is an essential part of the Jewish tradition that is explicitly mentioned in the Ten Commandments: Remember to keep the Shabbat holy. The Shabbat represents the bond between God and the people and throughout the centuries the Shabbat tradition has been one of the most fundamental characteristics of Jewish life. The Shabbat is a day of rest on which the Jewish Community gathers in the synagogue for a service, in which a Hebrew liturgy is followed and the Hebrew Bible or Torah is read.<\/p>\n

Order of service<\/strong><\/h4>\n

For the order of service, three parts are important: 1. Morning prayer or Shacharit, 2. The reading from the Torah scroll combined with a text from the Prophets, 3. Additional prayer or Musaf. The service is always concluded with a blessing over the wine, the Kiddush. Shabbat times 2025 and following years<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The times for the beginning and end of Shabbat are related to the times of sunset on Friday evening and Saturday evening. During Shabbat, numerous rules are observed to ensure the sanctification of this seventh day at the end of each week. The times for the beginning and end of the holidays are also shown below.

Groningen falls in zone 1. Shabbat does not begin later than 20:30 in the summer, while Shabbat ends an hour after sunset when the first three stars are visible. The same also applies to the holidays.<\/p>\n
